I moved to San Diego at the beginning of 2007 and never lived on this part of the coast. However, in my one year here, I've come to love and embrace southern California (SoCal) and hope to provide some insight on social scenes, lively places, things to do and what have you.
My intention here is to draw you into this blog and to be able to get the info that you want, when you want it. There are many sites out there that provide the same service, but with a lot of hassel and redirection.
What SoCal Social Scene will accomplish is to allow bloggers, like myself, to give you - the outsider looking in - a real feel for SoCal and all the splender this city has to offer.
We'll provide information on places to eat, but not just your average chain joint - we're looking for those "mom and pop" shops that offer real quality food at affordable prices. Afterall, living in SoCal does come with its very own price tag - but that's expected given the wonderful almost year-round weather we experience.
In addition to places to eat, I hope to review and provide insight on San Diego's social scene. There's plenty of information out there telling you about the Gaslamp District, but there isn't anything that'll outline the mood you're in. If you feel like having a conversation with a cool pint of beer - that's where we come into play. If you feel like spending $40.00 at the door just to get in - we'll give you the information for that as well.
Another great location to extinguish that burning desire to find a place to hang out or eat is with Yelp.com. I can't get enough of this site, and to be honest, has helped tremendously with me getting around San Diego and finding places.
So, please, continue reading and contribute if you're a SoCal resident! I look forward to getting this little blog into something other than a hobby and a real useful reference point to you - the outsider looking in!
~Cheers...
